Leadership

A Senior at Le Jardin Academy and an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme Candidate in Kailua, Hawai’i. Wolf leads by showing up, working alongside others, and putting the team before himself. Whether in athletics, academics, community service, or the arts, Wolfgang brings determination, empathy, and a steady willingness to take responsibility when things get difficult. He believes leadership isn’t about being the loudest voice in the room, it’s about listening, encouraging others, and helping the people around you move forward together.

Wolfgang sees service as an opportunity to understand the world beyond his own experience. From environmental conservation and coral restoration to supporting communities affected by natural disasters, his experiences have connected him with different people, cultures, and perspectives. They have shaped his belief that meaningful service begins with listening, learning, and using what you know to leave a place and its people stronger than you found them.

Wolfgang’s passion for engineering is fueled by a fascination with what moves us farther, faster, and beyond what seems possible. From designing and building to understanding propulsion, flight, and complex systems, he is drawn to the challenge of turning an idea into something that works. Aerospace engineering brings together what excites him most—curiosity, problem-solving, adventure, and the opportunity to explore what lies beyond the horizon.

ENGINEERING CURIOSITY INTO MOTION

A hands-on exploration of propulsion, design, failure, and discovery.

What began as a fascination with propulsion became a hands-on engineering challenge: designing, building, testing, and troubleshooting a working jet engine. I explored the relationship between fuel, airflow, combustion, and mechanical design, learning quickly that engineering rarely follows a perfect blueprint. Each setback from airflow issues to fuel delivery and reed-system challenges became an opportunity to rethink, redesign, and try again. More than a finished product, the project represents what I love most about engineering: asking questions, getting my hands dirty, learning through failure, and pushing an idea from imagination toward reality.

Music and Performance

my Creative expression

Music has been an important part of my high school experience, teaching me discipline, collaboration, and the value of contributing to something larger than myself. As a lead trumpet player in Advanced Concert Band and Jazz Band, I have learned that individual preparation matters, but the best performances happen when every musician listens, adapts, and works together as one ensemble. One of my most memorable musical experiences was performing in the 2024 Rose Parade with Nā Koa Aliʻi Hawai’i All State Band an opportunity that combined months of preparation, precision, endurance, and teamwork. Music has challenged me to be both confident and attentive—to know when to lead and when to listen and those are lessons I carry with me far beyond the stage.

    USNA Summer Seminar

    With a vision for building something meaningful, Wolfgang brings a blend of big-picture thinking and hands-on experience. With grit and perserverance he steps up to a challenge mentally and physically. The United States Naval Academy Summer Seminar experience reinforced an important lesson: true leadership is not about being the strongest person on the team—it is about helping the people beside you keep moving forward.

    SEALS Water Polo Camp USNA

    Team Player

    Wolfgang attended the Navy SEAL & Water Polo Camp in Annapolis in 2024 and 2026, an intensive experience combining competitive water polo training with demanding SEAL-inspired physical and team challenges. Through early mornings, endurance training, leadership exercises, and high-level water polo instruction, he strengthened his resilience, discipline, teamwork, and ability to perform under pressure.

    Wolfgang believes the biggest goals are the ones that challenge you to become more than you thought possible. His dream of serving the country he loves has inspired him to pursue excellence in academics, athletics, leadership, and service. Whether pushing himself physically, tackling complex engineering challenges, or supporting the people beside him, he is motivated by something larger than personal achievement: a desire to lead with courage, serve with integrity, and make a meaningful difference.

    Wolfgang has learned that obstacles are not signs to stop, they are opportunities to adapt, rethink, and keep moving forward. Whether facing a failed design, a demanding physical challenge, or an unexpected setback, he approaches difficulty with determination and curiosity. He has learned to ask “What can I do differently?” rather than “Why didn’t this work?” For Wolfgang, resilience isn’t about never failing; it’s about having the courage to try again, the humility to learn, and the determination to finish what he started.
