A Changing Planet. why Climate Change is deeply Personal

My interest in climate change became deeply personal after experiencing the devastation of Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas. Seeing a place that was part of my life transformed by the power of a storm changed the way I understood the relationship between people, communities, and the environment. Since then, I have continued exploring these issues firsthand—from studying Alaska’s changing glaciers to learning about coral restoration and reef ecosystems in Australia during my chosen Impact Term. These experiences have shown me that climate change is not simply something to study; it affects homes, ecosystems, economies, and entire communities. As my passion for engineering has grown, I have become increasingly interested in how innovation, technology, and resilient design can help us prepare for a changing world. I hope to use engineering not only to explore what is possible, but to help create solutions that protect the people and places that matter
